Physiotherapy can help with many different ailments.  At Life Fit Physiotherapy we specialise in the treatment of musculoskeletal problems.  This is the specialism of physiotherapy that deals with back and neck pain, joint and muscular problems, ligament tears, sports injuries and rehabilitation after surgery to name but a few.  These may be related to work, sport or life!

The physiotherapy we practice is based on many years of clinical experience, extensive knowledge continually updated through regular CPD, and current best practice.  We have a very hands-on approach to our treatment but support this with exercise regimes, advice and education in order to get the best outcome.

Our treatments will more often than not include some sort of soft-tissue techniques and/or joint mobilisation or manipulation although this is not always appropriate and dependent on the severity and nature of the problem.  Electrotherapy can be utilised to assist in the healing process and for pain-relief.

Being in a partnership with us you will play an integral part in getting yourself better and our job is to make sure you understand the problem and how you can help yourself as much as possible.  Our aim is to get you better as quickly as we can but to make sure you deal with why and how you got sore in the first place so that we hopefully don’t see you back too soon!

In order to achieve this goal we will take a lot of information about your problem at the first session and do a thorough examination.  The time taken to do this at the beginning of the process is invaluable as it lets us get a better understanding of your problem and ultimately means we can clearly inform you what you should and shouldn’t be doing as well making sure we are providing the best possible treatment.  For some complicated problems, which we relish as we love a challenge, this process can last over several sessions.

You will most likely be given some insight into your problem and what you need to do to optimise the process.  This may include postural advice, ergonomic advice, training advice, exercise regimes and whatever else is required to get you better.

In our eyes a good treatment process will be us doing most of the work at the beginning but by the end you will be doing the work and taking control.  The process does not begin and end at the clinic but carries on long after ‘treatment’ has finished which is why you may get a phone call or an email just to encourage (nag!) you to keep up the good work that got you better! Just remember, you need to keep up the good habits we drum into you even when you are NOT sore…..

Everybody is different and your treatment will be specific to you.  You will be kept in the loop throughout the process so that you know what you are doing and why.  It is really important to us that there is no magic or mystery behind what we do and that you are able to explain to everyone what your problem is and how Life Fit have helped you recover.

We care and we want you to get better. It’s that simple!

In order for you to recover fully we sometimes need the help of other experts which is why we have built an extensive network of healthcare professionals so that we can refer you onwards if required as well as offering a range of classes to help you in your long term rehabilitation and fitness.  If you have a problem with your breathing or a neurological problem that we don’t normally deal with please call us and we can try and find somebody suitable to help you.
